In short

Zapier Copilot is the AI assistant built into Zapier. You describe an automation in plain English and it drafts the trigger, actions and field mappings, then you review, test and switch it on yourself.

What is Zapier Copilot?

Zapier Copilot is the AI assistant inside Zapier. Instead of picking every app and field yourself, you type what you want, like add every new form lead to my CRM and tell the team in Slack, and Copilot builds a first draft of the Zap.

It picks the trigger and actions, chooses your app connections and maps the fields between steps. You can keep chatting to it to change things, then you test the Zap and publish it.

Copilot is available on every plan, including Free, though Free has a daily message limit. Zapier still labels it Beta, so expect it to keep changing.

It's a great way to get started, but it's a draft, not a finished build. You still need to check what it's mapped, test with real looking data and decide what happens when something goes wrong.

How I use Copilot with clients

When I train a team, I often get them to build their first Zap with Copilot. It takes away the blank page fear, and it's a quick way to learn how triggers and actions fit together.

Then I go through it with them step by step. I check the field mappings, add Filters so it doesn't run when it shouldn't, rename each step in plain English, and test it. That way the team understands what Copilot built, so they can fix it later without me.

Building a lead Zap with Copilot

  1. Prompt When someone fills in my website form, add them to my CRM and post in Slack You type
  2. Draft Copilot picks the form trigger and two actions, and maps the fields Copilot
  3. Check Fix any wrong mappings and add a Filter for spam You review
  4. Test Run a test with dummy data, then publish You publish

Copilot drafts the Zap. Checking and publishing it is still your job.

Zapier Copilot FAQs

Is Zapier Copilot free?

Yes, Copilot is on every plan, including Free. The Free plan has a daily message limit, and anything Copilot builds still follows your plan's rules, so multi-step Zaps need a paid plan.

Can Copilot build any Zap?

It can draft most everyday Zaps. It's less reliable with complicated logic, unusual apps or messy data, so I always check its field mappings and test before switching anything on.

Do I still need a Zapier consultant if I have Copilot?

Not for simple Zaps. Where people get value from me is the joined-up system: knowing what to automate, keeping task costs down and making it all easy to fix when something breaks.
