ClickUp view types, or List, Board and Calendar views
Different ways of looking at the same ClickUp tasks, like a List, Board, Calendar or Gantt chart. Change the view and the work underneath stays exactly the same.
A view is a way of looking at your tasks. The same tasks can show as a List, a Board with columns, a Calendar, a Gantt chart or a Table. Change the view and the work underneath stays exactly the same.
You add views at any level of the Hierarchy, and each one can have its own filters, grouping and sorting. So a manager can see everything due this week while a designer only sees their own work.
A List view isn't the same as a List. The List is where tasks live. A List view is just one way of displaying them.
Views are where I make ClickUp feel simple. For Serene Agency, every client List has a view for each stage of the job, so the team clicks straight to what needs doing now.
The trap is too many. I've seen workspaces with 14 Spaces and six different views where nobody knows where to look. So I give each team a small set of views they actually use, and name them after the question they answer.
One set of tasks. Three ways to see it.
No. Views only change how tasks are shown. Filtering a view hides tasks from that view, it doesn't delete or move them.
Fewer than you think. I aim for a handful per List, each named after what it's for, like This week or Waiting on client.
On Business and above you can make a view Private, so only you (and anyone you share it with) can see it. On Free Forever and Core, every view you add is visible to everyone who can see that location.
I set these up and train your team, in your own ClickUp or Zapier account.
