ClickUp AI agents, ClickUp Brain agents or ClickUp AI teammates
ClickUp Super Agents are AI teammates built into ClickUp. You give them instructions, triggers, tools and knowledge, and they work inside your Workspace, asking a person to approve critical decisions.
Super Agents are ClickUp's AI teammates. They're powered by ClickUp Brain, they understand your Workspace, and they can take on jobs like triaging requests, writing updates or chasing overdue work.
You build one by describing what you want in plain English in the Super Agent Builder, or by starting from ClickUp's Super Agent catalogue. Each agent has instructions, skills, triggers, tools, knowledge and memory, plus permissions that limit what it can reach.
You can DM a Super Agent or @mention it like a colleague. ClickUp designs them to ask a person for approval on critical decisions.
They need the AI ClickApp switched on and they use AI Credits. Guests and limited members can't create or trigger them. They're also different from ClickUp's Autopilot Agents (now also called AI Automations), which are simpler and built for specific locations.
I treat a Super Agent like a new starter. It gets a clear job description, access to only the Lists it needs, and a person who checks its work for the first few weeks.
I start with low risk jobs, like summarising a week of updates or sorting new requests into the right List. Anything that goes to a client or changes money stays with a person to approve. The tidier the workspace, the better the agent does, so the structure always comes first.
The agent does the sorting. A person still makes the call.
They use AI Credits. Every plan includes some, with a one-off 500 on Free Forever and a monthly allowance per seat on paid plans, and you can buy more. Every run uses credits, so check your allowance before you build several agents.
AI Automations, which ClickUp used to call Autopilot Agents, are simpler agents tied to specific locations. Super Agents are fuller AI teammates with their own instructions, tools, knowledge and memory, and you can message them directly.
No. ClickUp says guests and limited members can't create or trigger Super Agents. Members create them by default.
I set these up and train your team, in your own ClickUp or Zapier account.
