ClickUp guest access, a ClickUp client login or a permission controlled guest
A ClickUp guest is someone outside your organisation, like a client or freelancer, invited to specific items in your Workspace. View only guests are free on paid plans, and guests with more access can use paid seats.
A ClickUp guest is someone from outside your organisation that you invite into specific parts of your Workspace, like a client into their project Folder or a freelancer into one List. They only see what you share with them.
On paid plans there are two kinds. View only guests can look but not change anything, and they're free and unlimited. Permission controlled guests can be given comment, edit or full edit access.
Each paid plan includes some permission controlled guest seats, and you get more for each member you add. Go over that and ClickUp adds a paid member seat. On the Free Forever plan, guests are free but only get full permissions.
Guests can't be added to a Space, and people on your company email domain can't be guests. They'd be limited members instead.
I use guests a lot for client visibility. A client gets access to their own Folder, usually as a view only guest, so they can see progress without me paying for another seat.
Before I invite anyone, I check how many permission controlled guest seats the workspace has left, because one extra edit permission can quietly add a paid seat. And I share Folders or Lists, never individual tasks scattered around, so it's easy to see what each guest can reach.
Free until they need more than view only. Then check your guest seats.
