ClickUp 4.0 is the major version of ClickUp launched in December 2025. It brought a rebuilt, unified interface with Chat, Docs, tasks, calendar and AI joined up, and replaced ClickUp 3.0.
ClickUp 4.0 is the biggest update to ClickUp so far. It launched in December 2025, and ClickUp switched off the old 3.0 version in March 2026, so everyone's on it now.
The idea behind it is fewer separate tools. Navigation and the sidebar were rebuilt, and Chat, Docs, tasks, calendar, meetings and AI were joined up so you can move between them without losing context.
Your spaces, lists and tasks came across as they were. What changed is where things live and how you get around, which is why some teams felt lost for a while.
Most teams I see after 4.0 don't need a rebuild. They need a tidy up: clear sidebars, sensible favourites, old views removed, and a quick refresher so people stop working around the new layout.
I also use it as a chance to fix things that were messy before 4.0, like duplicate Lists, unused Custom Fields and automations nobody owns. A calm workspace is much easier for Brain and Super Agents to work with too.
